Cupcake Decorations For Grownups

Cupcakes make great party fare and can be designed to appeal to both young and old. While cupcake decorations for grownups may look just as pretty and appealing to kids the addition of alcohol or certain flavors will mean they aren't quite so tempting to them after all. So put on your thinking cap for your next adult party and make something decadent for your guests.


Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Recipes are not included as this is more about decorating your cupcakes but I'm sure you'll have your own favorite recipes that can be adapted.


Pina Colada cupcake decorations are particularly easy. Add coconut rum and pineapple juice -- perhaps even crushed pineapple -- to the cake mix and flavor the glace icing with pineapple juice and a little of the coconut rum. If you prefer, use a frosting. Decorate your cupcakes with a cocktail umbrella pierced through a piece of glace pineapple and a glace cherry. Maraschino cherries with a little of the stem still on will be very attractive alternative.


Irish coffee normally has Irish whisky but you could substitute the whisky for coffee and Irish Cream in your cupcakes. Decorate with frosting made with Irish Cream flavoring. Pipe the frosting on the top of your cupcake and dust with a little cinnamon to look like a cup of coffee. Place a coffee bean on the top. If you have any coffee cups or mugs that your cupcake would fit into this would be a particularly nice touch. This decoration idea would be good for many coffee cupcakes. Other flavor ideas are: Caribbean coffee with rum, French coffee with brandy, Mexican with Kahula.


What about savory cupcakes? Many would recoil in horror that the sweet little cupcake may now have savory items added to it. But think of muffins -- they are not unlike cupcakes except for the texture. Savory cupcakes could be decorated with cream cheese instead of sweet frosting, topped with bits of bacon, tomato, dusted with paprika. Savory cupcakes could be your starter while the sweet cupcake is a fitting finish to your meal.

How to Make Cupcakes Quickly

There are several delicacies that keep a persisting hunger in us as always. These items or dishes are generally the all time favorites of people the world around. Cupcakes sometimes referred to as fairy cakes and are complete with frosting and other decorations. The process of making a cupcake is fairly simple and easy. It takes maybe an hour or a little more to prepare these cakes. Cupcakes come in a huge number of flavors enchanting people with each of its mouth watering treats. Some of the most sought after flavors are shamrock, blueberry, carrot, chocolate, butterscotch, cinnamon, ginger bread and coconut flavors. Apart from these, cupcake is also available in plain classic or butter cream toppings.


Cupcakes are prepared just like muffins. However paper plain or colored cases are used for baking instead of tins. Now let us actually get down on how to make cup cakes? There are some six to seven ingredients required in the process. We need to get fifty grams of self- raising flour, fifty grams of superfine caster sugar, fifty grams of margarine or shortening butter, and an egg. The above listed ingredients can be used to make ten to twelve pieces of small pieces. If more pieces are required all one needs to do is double or treble the amount of the ingredients.


The cream and butter is first mixed and then the egg is added. Later fruits or flavors according to choice are added. The next thing is to put the cream in the cases. The size of the cupcake depends on the baker who can either make small ones of two inch diameter or larger ones with more cream. The cupcakes are now cooked in an oven for fifteen minutes at one hundred and ninety degree Celsius. The larger the cupcake, the more time is required. These cupcakes can now be decorated by sugar icing, icing of lemon, oranges, coffee etc. Jam, butter with candies is also added occasionally. Once the cup cakes have cooled down, they are ready to be served and eaten.

Cupcakes - Designer Style

Cupcakes have taken over the world. Those little wonders have been re-created in hundreds of different flavor combinations and served in shops all across the United States. With cute wrappers and funny sounding names, they tempt you with their size and keep you coming back for their incredible taste and texture. Their huge following will keep new shops opening up to capitalize on the demand for this delicious miniature treat.


The problem comes when you want something fancier than just frosting swirled on top. Many shops do not offer designer cupcakes or, if they do, they are at a price some are not willing to pay. What happens when you want to have designer cupcakes for an event? Create them at home.


For little girls, the sky is the limit. Dip a regular sized marshmallow into some melted chocolate, remove the excess and set on the center of a cupcake. Decorate the cupcake section with buttercream frosting like a tutu (use tip 104) or a dress in their favorite color.


For cupcake purses, put two regular sized cupcakes together end to end and cut the bottom with a serrated knife so that it sits level on the plate. Now you're ready to decorate with buttercream or fondant.


Like sparkles? Take your frosting covered cupcake and dip into sugar crystals. Use wax paper strips to section off your cupcake. All white sugar crystals would look like a sparkling light. Colored cupcakes lined up in rows would make a powerful statement on a table.


For a beautiful vase, put two cupcakes together top end to top end and frost. Chill and wrap with a strip of fondant. You can add fondant or buttercream flowers to the top.


Make baskets by adding jelly beans in the middle of your frosted cupcake and a basketweave fondant or frosting border around the edge. Take a thin piece of licorice and stick the ends down into the cupcake on either side to make the handle.


At craft stores, they have cake pans with four cavities that make miniature doll cakes. These are single serving sizes that you can add miniature doll picks to make special cakes for your little princess and her friends.


Chocolate is a woman's best friend. Want to make her happy? Take some chilled ganache, mold it into the shape of a marshmallow and dip it into melted mint chocolate and sit on the center of a chocolate cupcake. Decorate with chocolate buttercream frosting like a fancy dress, add a chocolate covered coffee bean on top, and you have a cupcake worthy of her taste buds. Want a different combination? The sky is the limit. Try lemon cake with cheesecake that has been frozen, and then cut out with miniature round cutters and set on top. Frost with whipping cream.


Surprise your guests by adding filling to your cupcakes. This makes them stand apart from anything store bought. Lemon filling can be spread over the cupcakes once they are cooled and then you can add your buttercream. Ganache can be made into different flavors and spread across your cupcake before frosting. Use different colored wrappers to keep track of all your different flavors.


Edible chocolate or hard candy jewels are available to add a little bling to your treats as well as fondant that can be rolled, cut out in disks or custom designs to make your occasion as special as the cupcake you made for it.


Need an idea for a boy's party or men? Boys and grown men would get excited over a cupcake bar. Use the mini loaf pans to make their cupcakes so it's not the same old round shape. Think Texas sized cupcakes for the man in your life who wants a "country slice." Crushed up Oreo cookies, cut-up Reese cups, gummi worms, chocolate syrup, caramel, whipped cream, and M&M's are just some of the things you could put out in small bowls to let them create the cupcake of their dreams.


Having a theme party? Use that same cake pan with four cavities for a boy's party, and you can make treasure sacks, adding M&M's as the treasure on top. Party stores have rings for theme parties and these can be inserted into the top for a great presentation. During the holidays, these same pans can be used to make Santa's sacks with red buttercream or fondant.


With just a little imagination, you can come up with a lot of designer cupcake designs that will make you glad you took the time to create them at home.

There's Always an Excuse For Cupcakes

Whether it is the middle of the summer, autumn, Christmas or a special day there is always an excuse for a cupcake.


There is nothing better than creating a special cupcake to make someones day extra special. My aim is to give you inspiration for the hundreds of ways to create and make cupcakes. Not only can you change the flavour of the cake itself, but change and add toppings to create a professional finish and a great taste.


Special Occasions


If you are looking for something different from your average cake, why not make individual cupcakes instead?


Not only can you decorate them to match someone's personality or taste, there is no mess trying to cut a large cake and get the slices even. Cup cakes are a great idea for Christenings where you can decorate with baby pink or blue and add sprinkles or iconic baby items such as sweet dummies. Tiered cupcakes are also different for a wedding, not only do they look beautiful, they can have the couples initials on or rings to represent their bond in marriage. There are some lovely stands out there to make it look even more impressive.


Seasonal Ideas


For Christmas why not make fruit cup cakes instead of your average Christmas cake. With green and red icing it is a great centre piece for your Christmas buffet. Use white icing or sprinkle icing sugar over the top to create a snowy effect.


For a spooky Halloween why not use orange and green icing. Or for extra fun add unusual centres so people to guess what flavour the cakes are, such as jelly, jam or chocolate sauce.


In the summer, nothing is nicer than a lemon cupcake. Light yet tasty and zesty to tickle those taste buds. The bright colours are also great fun for kids at parties and picnics.

How to Make Birthday Cupcakes

If you are wondering how to make cupcakes, then you should know that there are many resources floating all over the internet. Gone are the days when all you inherited were some handed-down recipes.


Now thanks to internet technology, you can tap on potential cupcake recipes from around the world within a single click. Recipes to make cupcakes are as many as you would have combinations. The Red Birthday Cupcakes Fare


Your ingredients include 2 1/2 cups of self rising or all purpose flour, 1/2 cup of powdered baking cocoa, 2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon each of baking soda and baking powder, 1/2 cup butter, 5 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, 1 cup buttermilk (If for some reason you do not want to add the buttermilk or do not have any, you can replace the ingredient with a simple substitution - lemon juice/ white vinegar and milk) and a teaspoon of red food coloring.


Now in a large mixing bowl put together the self rising flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda. Sift and mix them well in the bowl and set aside. Now, separately, cream together the sugar and butter till the mix is fluffy and light in texture. To this mix, add the eggs one at a time. Keep mixing the eggs into the mix as you add each one. Now add the sifted dry ingredients to this creamed mixture along with the buttermilk, vanilla and food coloring.


Fill the cupcake pans with the red batter and bake them in for around 20 minutes. Ensure that the inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool the birthday extravaganza and then frost.

Easy Cupcake Recipes

Bugsy Carrot Cupcakes


When investigating how to make cupcakes of the Bugsy kind all you need to do is get into the kitchen and open up the larder. If the kids do not like carrots in their stew or salads, let alone cupcakes, they need not know that all the vitamin A rich carrots are in the cupcakes. Take 2 cups of self rising or all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 2 cups of refined sugar, 2 cups of shredded carrots (like you would have in a coleslaw - use a food processor), 1 teaspoon baking soda, shortening of your choice, 1 teaspoon of either ground cardamom, cinnamon or nutmeg, 4 eggs.


Prior to setting down to getting the ingredients together, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Now, put all the dry ingredients in a cake mixing bowl. Keep mixing the ingredients for around 5 minutes. Add the eggs and shortening and pour the batter into the cup cake liners. Remember to fill the liners only 2/3 full. Bake the cup cakes for 20 minutes, cool and serve with a cream cheese frosting! The kids love it and you are instantly the best mom or dad in the whole world!


How to make cupcakes? Here is another recipe you can try:


Walnut Banana Delight


Take 2 cups all purpose or self rising flour, 1 1/2 cups of refined sugar, a teaspoon each of baking powder, vanilla essence and baking soda, 1/2 cup butter, 3 eggs, 2 ripe bananas (mashed), and 3/4 cup beaten curd. Also set aside, separately, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup each of fresh cream and butter and a cup of chopped walnuts. Your third preparatory tray will have 1/2 cup refined sugar, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons self rising or all purpose flour, 1 cup milk, 1/2 tablespoon butter, 1/2 cup whipped cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence and 2 ripe bananas, sliced.


Preheat the oven to approximately 350 degrees. Get your topping done by mixing together the brown sugar, cream and butter over a low flame. Remove as soon as butter melts and pour the mix into the liners, evenly. Sprinkle walnuts and set aside. For the cup cake batter, mix together sugar and butter in a mixing bowl along with the mashed banana and vanilla essence for a minute. Add eggs (1 at a time) and mix for another minute. Now separately, mix the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add half of this mixture to the egg mix and blend for one minute. Now add the remaining flour mix and the beaten curd. Keep mixing for 3 minutes.


Slowly pour the cupcake batter over the topping and bake for 20 minutes till you get a clean toothpick out of each. For the filling, you should combine flour and sugar in a medium sized saucepan over a slow flame, until mixture starts to boil. Add 1/4 cup of this hot mixture to the egg (beaten) in a separate bowl and stir well. Continue cooking for a minute. Then stir in vanilla and butter, cool and refrigerate for an hour. When serving, cut the cupcakes horizontally, spread the filling on the lower half and top each with the thinly sliced bananas. An Easy Recipe For Homemade Cupcakes

Cupcakes have been around for centuries and are some of the most popular treats today. Actually, they are almost everywhere. You can see them in bakeries, coffee shops and even in groceries. Cupcakes used to be baked in small pottery cups; hence, the name. These little sweets are enjoyed throughout the world by people of all ages. These are the equipment you will need:


*Cupcake pans - these are ovenproof cups for molding the cupcakes. They are usually made of metal, although they can also be stoneware and other materials.


*Cupcake liners - these are round pieces of paper placed within the pans before the batter is put in them. The purpose of these is to make it easy to take out the cupcakes from the pans. These can also be made of very thin aluminum foil.


Here are the ingredients:


*2 eggs
*1 cup of milk
*1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
*1/2 cup of shortening
*3 teaspoons of baking power
*1 1/3 cups of sugar
*2 1/4 cups of flour


Baking directions:


1. Put the cupcake liners on the cupcake pans.
2. Preheat your oven to 177 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. When the mixture has become fluffy, add in the sugar gradually; this should be followed by the flour, milk, vanilla extract, shortening and the baking powder. Keep beating all throughout. Be sure to mix everything thoroughly.
4. Once you're done with the batter, pour it on the cupcake pans with the cupcake liners. Do not fill the pans as the cupcakes will overflow. The pans should only be about 2/3 full.
5. Put the cakes in the oven and bake for 23 minutes. You will know if they are done by doing the toothpick test. Insert a toothpick in the middle of each cupcake and see if it comes out clean of each. Once finished baking, allow them to cool for awhile before serving.


Cupcakes are also a great way to experiment. You can try mixing in chocolate chips or putting on sprinkles. Using the same recipe above, you can give those cupcakes a twist by adding 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. You can also put some icing on them. Kids are going to love this: put some blue or other colorful icings on top of the cupcake and go bring out your inner child by making faces. You can put in marshmallows or color-coated chocolates for the eyes. You can also put some fillings like jam or cream. Try adding some blueberry jelly or other delicious fillings and you can be sure of second helpings. Now have them with tea or coffee and enjoy!
